Put on your Easter Bonnet!

Nostalgic Easter Greetings!

Today, I want to share a few of my Easter cards. I don't have a lot of these in my collection, but I'm always on the lookout for more! It is antiquing season, so I may get lucky this spring and summer!

I really don't know anything about this one but I thought it was cute.
It is a one piece flat card, almost like a valentine

This is a Hallmark card from 1947 and has fuzzy flocked bunnies.

This adorable standup farmer card  is a lot of fun

This Piggy bank card has a lot of dime slots inside.

This is a giant flocked stand up Easter bunny card.
I don't usually collect such large cards but I was drawn to this one and made an exception

This duckling is "blinged out" with a glittery sequined jacket to add extra sparkle.

I thought this was a darling Mommy Easter Card

I love this one. The woven basket is very realistic and conjures up memories of Easters of long ago.

This one was a recent birthday present from my wonderful daughter...LOVE IT!

I thought this card was kind of creepy. There is something about the bunnies and the garish colors that is a bit unsettling. I think the bunny eyes look a bit demonic or something.

I hope you liked reminiscing with me and viewing my Easter greetings. I want to wish everyone a blessed Easter weekend!

Stay nostalgic my friends,
Mary

Happy April!

Nostalgic greetings!

I hope everyone is enjoying April so far! Where I live, the April showers are in full force!
Again, I am going to feature birthday cards for 4 year olds since it is the 4th month. I don't have a lot of 4 year old cards, but I really like the ones that I have. I'll share a few today and a few more later in the month.

This was a recent Ebay find, hand-dated Dec 1949

I don't have any details on this one, but it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz , I guess because of the dog and the brick road and the Emerald color. I am likely the only one to see a connection...it probably does not relate to it all!

This is another Ebay purchase. No details to share though.

I love this one because the boy reminds me of  a character from one of my favorite children's books , The Best Surprise of All.  Well, I googled the book (see below) and I guess they don't look THAT much alike, but nevertheless it reminded me of the book. I guess it's the kind of closed eyes and that smile?!

This was one of the first cards from my collection. It was given to me by my friend Lisa (she is an expert antiquer, and finds great cards for me!) I don't usually keep envelopes, but I liked this one for Dallas Weigle From York, PA who was turning 4 in 1942! I love the colors in this card and the fact that it is a smaller card than many in my collection.
Stay nostalgic!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

Nostalgic greetings!

Today I am being a bit indulgent and sharing a few baby girl cards, since I am celebrating my birthday today.
As my husband so kindly told a shopkeeper in an antique store we were visiting today, I am an antique.

Even though he was correct, he didn't need to say it out loud, did he? :) But in all seriousness, he DID take me antiquing all day and made my birthday VERY special! Too bad Valentine's Day is over because I picked up some adorable Valentines today! I'll just have to blog about those in 2015!

So, let me share a few of my favorite baby cards.

This one is actually from 1953, so it is actually 10 years older than I am.

This is a classic baby girl card, with the flocked baby blanket, giving it that fuzzy texture.

This one features flocked baby booties.

And finally, I HAD to feature at least one stork card!

Stay nostalgic, and keep checking in to see my cards. Love viewing the greeting cards? Remember, you can always subscribe and get an email everyime I post new cards.

Nostalgically yours,

An older (and wiser?!) Mary

Nostalgic greetings AND Top of the Mornin' to Ya!

Since it will soon be St Patty's Day, today I am posting the only St Patty's Day card that I own. I actually just purchased this one  last weekend at a quaint little shop in the Cincinnati area called The Covered Bridge.
Covered-Bridge-Antique-Mall

                                                  This one is hand-dated 1947.

I like Pat's letter on the back from his Aunt Meta, so I had to share it too.

In case you're like me and don't know what Begorrah means, see the definition below from dictionary.reference.com

March is here!

Nostalgic greetings!

It is hard to believe that it is already March. This month I am featuring cards for 3 year olds since it is the 3rd month. I may also have a few other surprises as the month goes by. I personally have always loved March because it is the month I was born and it marks the beginning of spring.

Here are some of my 3 year old cards. I don't have as many 3 year old cards as I do some of the other years. I am going to have to search for more when I am antiquing this spring and summer.

This one features a metal button that says 3 years old.

This one is hand marked 1950

This one also features a metal button that says 3 years old. it has a real 3-D quality and really looks like a stuffed horse.

This one is hand marked 1950, and is from Hallmark.

this one is from Wishing Well Greetings.

That's all for now. Here's hoping for spring, right around the corner. I'm becoming nostalgic for warmer weather, devoid of snow and ice.
